Arlington Cultural Exchange Visits the County Central Library in Arlington

Sixteen volunteers and diplomats from Algeria, Germany, Egypt, South Korea, Japan, and Turkey gathered on January 10 at Arlington County Central Library. Lisa Nuccio, M.L.I.S., Adult Services Librarian, provided a tour and presentation of its library services. She impressed the attendees with the vast free services offered by the library which include free concerts, English classes, information technology help, notary service, meeting rooms and much more. See this link for a complete list: https://library.arlingtonva.us/services/

Lisa facilitated library cards for all in attendance. Anyone with a documented address or library card from the local area is eligible to get an Arlington card – as are Arlington card holders eligible to get cards in these locations:  Washington DC, City of Alexandria, City of Falls Church, Fairfax County and Montgomery County.

Here are some of the comments we received after the meeting:

From a diplomat, “Thank you for hosting this event and sending us an email with pictures and the newsletter content. I really appreciate this event, since I am living in Arlington and have had a chance to learn more about the library.  This event has made my life in the US much richer.”

From a volunteer, “Thank you for arranging the library meeting in Arlington this morning.  I certainly plan to take advantage of all the library offers.  So helpful and such a friendly staff.”

We thank Lisa and the Arlington Central Library for hosting this meeting and Karen Russo and Arlene Shapiro for providing refreshments.
